About Lichess Racing Kings

Hello everyone,

As newly-coined team leaders, we’ve received a number of questions about the activities of Lichess Racing Kings going forward. Official Variant teams are still very much new, and a work in progress for all of us, but we can already share some of our goals and ideas for the near future.

As a community-driven team, our purpose is to promote Racing Kings to a wider audience, to support the RK community and to help all our players as much as we can.

We are looking into hosting regular Arena tournaments and competitions, supporting community events, setting up a teaching / studying section where players can help each other, and promoting content creation and study materials so everyone can learn more about Racing Kings.

If you have any suggestions for the Lichess Racing Kings team, we would love to hear from you in this forum. Listening to player feedback is what keeps a team alive, after all :-)

For any questions about Racing Kings, you are welcome to create a new thread in our team forum as well.

To start things off, we’ve scheduled 3 tournaments for this Sunday, March 6:

12:30 UTC - Welcome Racing Kings Arena
13:00 UTC - First Hyperbullet Arena
19:00 UTC - Elite Arena

We hope to see you there on Sunday!
Hello @Huguitooo_xD,

Prize arenas are fun, but as the name suggests, they require a prize pool.
Unfortunately, Natso and I are currently not planning on sponsoring any prize arenas ourselves - although I wouldn't rule it out in the future.
If you, or anyone else, is interested in sponsoring prizes for a tournament with the Lichess Racing Kings team, please send one of the team leaders a private message so we can work out the details.

Thanks for bringing up this topic!
We could have a section of the team forum for game analysis?
@JKS369,

For general discussion / advice about opening theory we still recommend that you open a new forum thread. Having said that, I agree that for advice on individual games, having a sticky forum thread where players can ask for analysis / help might be practical. That way we avoid cluttering up the forum :-)

I'm on it!

I am working on a video with tips on how to work on your RK opening repertoire and how to analyse your games as well, but that could take a few more days at least.

Thank you for the suggestion!

@utahraptor_11,

When talking about times on a website with players from all over the world, it's always important to specify time zones. Typically, people convert their times to Coordinated Universal Time, or UTC.

Malaysia is in UTC +8, meaning that 15:00 local time for you is 07:00 UTC.

While we will not be hosting any tournament at that particular time, you could consider joining the public Hourly Racing Kings arenas starting at 05:00 UTC or 08:00 UTC instead. At times when no tournaments are available, I can unfortunately only recommend seeking in the lobby. Sorry!

Hello, great! I love Racing Kings as well, and i would also like to make RK Chess community, help players & bring interest on people to this awesome variant! By the way, i can't say everyweek, but for this week, i can help our community/team by sponsoring 3$ for the 1st place via PayPal/Bank Card. So, feel free to ping me here if you have any questions, or anything else.

Thank you, all!
