Profile's photo

Yeah it is nice to have some level of anonymity.

Trolls do all sorts. We don't live according to our fears about trolls. Trolls have had racist and inappropriate names, for instance.

I like the idea, as an option. Then, those who don't wish to have a profile picture don't have to have one.

I for one would upload one.

I totally agree with the user Toutatis. In fact, it's your own profile, and you would have the capacity to do with it what you want; secondly, if an user is not known, the photo he/she has doesn't matter; but if for example, someone joined in my profile I'd like that he/she my photo and, therefore, a part of my identity.

Being this capacity always optional for the user...

The simplicity of Lichess is part of its charm.

And thoughts are more important than images.

Maybe when someone has been a member for a certain amount of time or played certain amount of games- they get chance to put profile pic. Reward for loyalty and also gives new members something to aim for. Of course if take the time to program this feature then why not give to all :) I just think having stuff to aim for, no matter how small, gives a more positive experience to gaming.

I'd also like to see the ability to (Facebook-style) "like" someone's comment without having to put a whole comment down. For example, I've just wasted a minute of my life instead of clicking a green up arrow to show I like #17!
