How do I become a Grandmaster?

As far as I am concerned: I did several times the „mandatory“ 10k hours.
FIDE is low on funds, they are opening a new title, AM, Apprentice Master. I'm aiming for that. I'll need to drop some rating points but I'm really good at doing that.
How many hours of skating would it take for me to become an NHL/KHL level player? (Never mind that I am 67 and have a bad ankle, the Leafs have a penchant for over-paying past-before-their-best-date forwards)

Why do you think so? 10 000 hours has been a popular answer to the question how long it takes to become an expert in something for about 15 years, at least, since the publication of "en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Outliers_(book)".
Do you think it is not enough? Do you think you can do it in 5000 hours?

You can still become a Grandmaster in composing problems. I don't think that niche has been conquered by the young ones already.
10,000 hours generally depends on the person and it doesn't tell you how you are spending that time. I am 18 and am at 1600 like a majority of players. I don't know how to go beyond this on lichess. Of course, the only things that people told me were how much time to spend and not how to actually advance or at least, train to advance. In reality, all people told me in my opinion was how not to advance. I want to know what I should be doing rather than what to aim for and how long it would take. I get there when I get there. Doesn't say if or how long it's when.
10k hours of hard work more or less, 10k hours of only playing and not focused on improving are useless
You can stretch 10,000 hours over 50 years or you can concentrate it without eating or sleeping. Realistically, you need to spend time every day to accomplish a goal on time and get help when you cannot progress on your own. Routine is good and bad if your rating plateaus. To grow the body and mind needs to be surprised, not bored. Challenge your routines with novelty.
Moreover, our famous @german11 has 600 000 games on lichess, and more than 1000 days Time spend playing bullet/Blitz. As you might notice 1000 days = 24 000 hours and he isnt GM (yet lol)
