January 6th Tournament Recap!

ChessAnalysisOver the boardTournament
I played in a three-round RR tournament on Saturday. Here are the results:

In my first game, I played black in a Classical Scotch (1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3. d4 exd4 4.Nxd4 and Bc5) my opponent went for the tricky Be3 and I responded with Qf6. The game proceeded with me sacrificing a couple of pawns in the middlegame and ended when his light squared bishop took a poisoned pawn on f7, opening my rooks to his king. He lost the bishop then I forced some exchanges and checkmated him.
In my second game, I played white against a French Defense (1.e4 e6 2.b3 d5 3.Bb2 Nf6 4.e5 Nfd7 was how the game started). I blundered a piece then won it back. I found myself in a winning endgame then blundered into a losing pawn endgame and resigned when my opponent was about to promote.
In my third game, I played the white side in a Fried Liver Attack: Polerio defense (1.e4 e5 2.Bc4 Nc6 3.Nf3 Nf6 4.Ng5 d5 5.exd5 Na5 6. Bb5+ c6 7. dxc6 Nxc6?! 8.Qf3 Qb6 were the opening moves) I played both aggressively and quickly and won a piece when my opponent forgot about the touch-move rule. I traded pieces, won an Exchange, and my opponent resigned.
Results: I scored 2/3, placed 2nd in my Quad of 4 players, and gained 23 rating points.
Next Tournament: 1/20, expect another recap blog post in the next 2 and a half weeks. Check out my YouTube channel TheNoobiestNoob-lichess for more
