Inconsistent .

Hello,
How does anyone else reduce inconsistent play ? I'm an okay chess player , not world beating , probably distinctly average . Today I played a couple of 3 check sessions , in the first one I beat 2 players that are ranked significantly higher than me , they turned to be the highest and 5 highest ranked 3 check players I've beaten in a couple thousand matches . In the second one I lost over and over to players several hundred points ranked below me . I don't know what I did differently , I'm very inconsistent . Does this happen to anyone else and how do you become more consistent?
Thank you.
Being inconsistent is the most human thing you could do. You are not an ai or a robot, you have downswings and upswings, you have a life outside of chess that even marginally impact how you play. There is not an easy trick to being consistent because that would mean that you can solely focus on the game and not think of literally anything else.

Best thing you could do is play solely when you are well rested, not stressed, well fed, with some bottles of water nearby and without a thing to do afterwards and inside the play session.
@Jacket_Tayto This is part of being human, as was already said. It isn't just you either.
Think about it this way. Every player has a rating, a number which reflects how well they play on average.
At any given moment, that player's ACTUAL strength could be anywhere in a 400-500 range on either side of that number, although closer is more likely. The same holds true for you.
So, let's say you get paired against a 1000 player who is playing at 1500 level for a moment, while at the same time you are playing worse than normal.
Well, you lose.
Again, let's say you get paired against VariantsOnly, one of the best 3+ players there is. He is having a rough time and is playing at like 1900-2000 performance, while you are in great form. You might just win. It happens to everyone. How do you think Alireza lost to a 1700 in bullet? (look in his lowest rated losses if you don't believe it)
Yesterday I joined some blitz tournaments. I didn't do too bad, but today I just dropped. I think the consistency depends on your mental state; I went into the blitz games too cocky today -_-
