Yup. That's why trying to win leads to losing, and trying to find the best moves regardless of whether you think you can win leads to winning. Especially in positions that seem to be losing.

i completely disagree with this statement.
Good article!

My frustration of loosing is so much more then feeling happy to win. And the emotions are strong. And then I start to go down the rapid hole. Start loosing every game almost and feel bad about it. I have played like 2300 games overall and still have bad ratings. I was never this hate to lose type but chess brings it up.

But chess is not about ratings it's about the game.
Great work, thanks!

By the way, I have read your next article about OBIT method in details, and I have a question about "takeaways" : are they always negative, e.g. "I played too quickly and blundered simple tactics" or "I couldn't find a plan in strategic position" or "I didn't concentrate properly and lost my advantage" and so on? Or are they positive sometimes?

Thanks for your answer!
> “See, the knight compensates for the weak pawns,” he said happily. I realized he didn’t really care about winning the game, he was more interested in the knight maneuver. I was still frustrated about losing against someone who played a bad opening, but I could also sense that his way of approaching the game was the right way to do it.

I think that we should all have that attitude first. why wait until master-hood.. I like this topic. And glad to hear that high level competition does not overshadow the curiosity of what the board can do, just for its beauty...

It might even improve tangentially what one seeks too much directly.... and all the while preserving the mood in a sustainable fashion over time.... making friends.... the board included... (it is our friend).
