Team Chess Tournament-I need your help!

Hey, people. On the 11th of November I've got a chess tournament coming up. My school teacher just told me that it is a "Team" event.
I did some research, and found out that one player can control one particular piece or something of that sort. 4 Players (including me) from my school are going to take part in this tournament, as a team. However none of the other 3 players are as good as me: none of them has ever defeated me. So I am worried that our team won't do very well because I won't be able to control my friend's games. So I am pretty worried. I want you guys to tell me more about Team chess and anything I can do to make our team successful in the tourney. (Just for reference, I live in the Indian city of Kolkata). Thank you guys for reading my post!I thank you for your help!
My understanding of "Team Event" is that 4 (or more) players are playing on different boards. If you win, it will count as 1 Point for your team, if you loose it will count as a point for your opponent team and if you draw both teams will be awarded 0.5 Points. Whoever has most points scored will win the "event".
You need to consult with your teacher.
Your online research seems to have you a bit confused.

"I did some research, and found out that one player can control one particular piece or something of that sort." OP

An important fact: You can not "control" your friends play in any manner by consulting with them regarding moves. (It is regarded as cheating). You seem overly concerned about their play. Do your preparation and then have fun !

Thank you #2 and #3. I know mdinnerspace that you may think I am overly concerned about their play but I have never competed in a Team chess event so I was wondering how it exactly works. I don't know if there's anything about individual performance or is it about the team as a whole. I would have consulted the teacher but he is on leave for some reason. That's the main reason I have posted here.
