Muting chat in mobile app

I think it would be nice to be able to mute chat in the mobile app, like on the website. The opponent should be unable to write a message, in order not to waste time doing so (I think that's the way it works in the website app).

This is for two reasons:
- first, answering on a mobile terminal takes time, especially on shorter time controls, and one may not feel like chatting in this situation
- second, the trash talk one often gets is annoying

Right now there is this button that pulses forever until you click on it and it opens a new screen to show you, for example "gl", or some trash talk. I agree one may ignore the pulsing button, but it's distracting.

Make it a toggle (chat/no chat) that can easily be changed from the playing screen, because sometimes one may want use the chat (if we know the opponent, for example).
I agree. Before I found your post, I made one of my own: "I recently had a game against an Anonymous player during which the player kept sending messages via the chat, as a means to distract me. I was playing in my Android phone, and the chat just kept blinking throughout the game. I won at the end, but it was very aggravating. I think there should be an option to mute the chat in the Android app."
Another way to handle it would be to have the button blink only for 2 seconds. It's obviously enough to notice it. If the player then decides not to open the chat window, then they are not bugged with the blinking for the entire game. Also further messages should be ignored (no blinking at all) until the player does open the window.
